Premier Academy

Academy Overview

The Premier Academy Program for the U7-U10 age groups is designed to provide our young players with the best possible start in their soccer experience. It is for the young recreational player that is ready for the next step in getting  higher quality soccer training. The focus of the experience is to develop young soccer players through the “Golden Years of Learning”.

This age group is the key time in their life that they can increase their love of the game and develop positive habits and attitudes. The emphasis should be on having fun, continuous learning, and encouragement and reinforcement of creativity. If players enjoy the game at this introductory age, then hopefully they will be playing and enjoying the game for years to come.

Premier Academy provides the foundations for soccer excellence down the road. It stresses the importance of player development over winning in situations where there is a conflict between the two.

The ‘Premier’ Approach

  • Individual Player Evaluation

Team placement is done through individual player evaluation. This is to ensure that each player is placed in the maximal developmental environment

  • Development over Winning

“The emphasis on winning is a detriment to young players because it prevents us from developing technically proficient players. And we are not giving them the ability to make decisions.” – US U17 National Team Coach, John Hackworth. Soccer America, Oct. 2006. You may wonder why America has been unable to produce the quality that many other countries have. Well a lot of experts say it has do with our mentality and culture of winning at all costs, even at the expense of development. Our goal is to produce QUALITY, HIGHER LEVEL, Competitive players who will be well-equipped for the competitive game.

  • Flexible Rosters

We want to challenge players over the course of the season. As players develop we offer the flexibility to give players extra or more advanced playing opportunities to make sure players are always growing.

  • Prioritize Player Safety

Our club adheres to the U.S. Soccer Federation’s policy on NOT ALLOWING heading at these age groups. Every licensed trainer at RCP is certified in a course administered by the Centers of Disease Control on how to safely run sessions and deal with concussion protocols.

  • U.S Soccer Federation Licensed Coaches

Ever Trainer is licensed with U.S Soccer to train players of the appropriate age group.

We don’t hold tryouts for Premier Academy. We believe that at the younger age groups, there exists potential for premier level soccer in every player with proper coaching. All players and skill levels are welcome.

Please contact Daniel Paschedag at daniel@rivercitypremierfc.com in order to arrange a session in which your player can be evaluated skill level and team placement!
